“In September 2014, I was unlucky enough to be involved in a road traffic accident on the M6. I was driving along the middle lane of the motorway when a vehicle cut directly in front of me, causing me to strike the central reservation—my car landed upside down, which was, as you can imagine, terrifying. The other driver vanished, and given my condition, I was unable to take in its registration.
“After the accident, I had no idea what to do. I contacted Parmar Solicitors, who were able to explain exactly what I’d have to do in order to make a claim through the Motor Insurers Bureau for my injuries—this was made more complicated as, without the guilty party’s registration number, their insurers could not be identified. Parmar’s team advised me to contact my own insurers regarding the damages so I could be driving again as soon as possible—unfortunately, vehicle damage is not covered by the MIB’s “untraced driver” scheme.
“However, the MIB compensated me for my injuries after seeing medical evidence. Some insurers protect their client’s no-claims bonus with untraced drivers, though mine didn’t, which was a nasty shock. However, they paid out after we presented evidence gathered from conversations with police and witnesses.
